Happy 2010 everybody! I don’t know about you, but i can feel it in my bones that this is going to be a stellar year!

So let’s start it off with a BANG! with this week’s Splurge vs. Steal!

Brett and I love Top Chef almost as much as we love Iron Chef almost as much as we love each other … And it looks like this Monday Seattleites will have the opportunity to taste the food that Padma, Tom, and the guest chef judges were able to taste (and eventually dismiss!) on last season’s Top Chef.

Seattle chef Robin Leventhal, who was one of the final six contestants on "Top Chef: Las Vegas," will recreate a seven-course menu based on seven of her dishes from show (including the "Angels & Devils" dish that won her a quickfire).

The dinner will take place Monday, January 11th at The Sanctuary on Capitol Hill, a devine space recently converted from church to condos surrounded by meticulously restored architecture.

The cost is $100 (which includes wine). Reserve your tickets here. Oh! And, fear not: you’re not required to pack your knives.

Did you know that not only can you get into the Seattle Art Museum for FREE on the first Thursdays of each month, but you can also steal a free show at Seattle’s most notorious Music/Pop Culture/Science Fiction Museum! The EMPSFM (325 5th Avenue North, Seattle) offers free admission and live music from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the first Thursday of every month.

This Thursday is a special treat, with performances by local pop group The Glasses at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm in Sky Church. The Glasses love indie-pop, electro-pop, folk-pop and other kinds of pop that rock, and have been creating energetic pop songs since 2003; two-member combo Will and Becky and are joined live by friends Richard and Neel. Currently, the band is promoting their second full-length release, Story Problems. You can get the album here for FREE!

After the show, head over to lower Queen Anne’s newer (and coolly understated) Mexican hangout, Laredo’s Grill, where you can score $2 pork tacos and cheap (yet frosty!) cans of Tecate!

Happy Dating! xo
