Local 360 - a new Local Favorite

Local 360
Belltown

He Said:

Well, I’ll admit it. This week I went out on a lunch date without my beloved Mandy!

I know, I know. BUT before you run off and snitch on me with the missus, I’ll clarify - this was a sweet little lunch date with a number of lady team members of mine.

Blogging about work lunches and regular, out of dating life isn’t our bread and butter here at Seattle Date Night - we usually keep it to the lovey mushy stuff between Mandy and me.

But with all the info we’ve been generating from our recent survey (cheers for your input BTW), we’ve decided to broaden our scope a little. Add to the mix our venue is in my opinion, the best new restaurant in Seattle, well I couldn’t wait to spread the word.

Local 360 is Belltown’s fresh, new eatery on 1st and Bell. You’ll find it at the old Flying Fish location. With a basic rustic, barn-like and relaxed feel to it, Local 360 is the latest restaurant to join the growing trend of locally sourced, farm-to-table cuisine.

The 360 stems from the fact that the majority of the products served are sourced within 360 miles of Seattle.

The farm-to-table way of doing things, while becoming trendy of late, clearly isn’t ground-breaking, but is really getting back to the way things used to be. The good ol' days, so to speak.

The farm-to-table methodology is great, as it supports local business, cuts down the environmental impact of transporting produce and with reduced handling (less chemicals), and will nearly always be tastier.

More of a branding and marketing tool for restaurants (Tom Douglas will say he’s been doing it forever), with the produce we have in Washington, the more the merrier I say.

Local 360 takes this further again by only dealing with sustainable suppliers who are in it for the long term.

SOOO... it’s in a great location, the joint looks cool, the hippies are happy with the philosophy, and the food is fresh; BUT what does the frigging food taste like I hear you ask??!!

Well I’m very pleased to report - absolutely sensational! I had the fried chicken, and smashed it in minutes.

I’ve been back again this week and had the cob salad and that was like-wised consumed in lightning speed. All of my guests had similar things to say about their various salads and sandwiches. I’ll be putting it through its final test this weekend to see how it handles a Sunday morning hangover. I’m betting beautifully.

Lastly, with 2 huge doors that’ll be opened when the weather is nice and a soon-to-be opened market that will be selling all of the produce they prepare - Local 360 will be the place to be in 2011. A perfect date night spot in Belltown.

Cheers,
Brett
