Next time you are at a farmer's market, flea market, or even a grocery store with your special someone, if you have a little bit of extra time, i have something fun for you to try out!
Give your honey a $10 bill, and have him give you one. Or a twenty -- whatever you're feeling like spending. Set a time to meet (half hour or so?) and go around the market trying to find something just perfect for your honey, but it HAS to be under budget!
Brett and i did this on Mother's Day at the Fremont Sunday Market, and it was a ball. Instead of just lazily walking through the fruit, jewelry, and trinket stands, we had an adventure... a scavenger hunt of sorts! I found all SORTS of stuff that i knew he would love (binoculars, old pirate's knives, a killer old 80s leather jacket), but it HAD to be under $20... which was the major challenge.
I ended up getting him 2 antique glass beer steins, some colorful sweat bands (matching wrist and head), and a light-saber toy that actually lit up. He got me a big bunch of asparagus (that we grilled up that night!) and a very cute organic hand-made tank top.
It's an easy way to show the person you are with that you pay attention when they tell you that they love grilled asparagus on a hot summer day, or that nothing beats a beer in a stein that's been chilling in the freezer... and it can be yours for as little as twenty bucks!
Happy dating!
