A Letter from Brett

He Said:

Right, we’ve gone and buggered off to our eternal mother - Old Blighty!
As you know, I’ve been transferred with work so Mandy and I have packed up the Seattle flat, shipped the cats off to the in-laws and made the big journey across the Atlantic to sunny Bournemouth, Dorset, England.
So what's with Date Night I hear you chatter. Well, even in the land of the perpetual tea break, Mandy and I are still busy people with crazy schedules. Date Night marches on more important than ever! But what does Date Night look like in Europe??
Will this blog turn into a slag-fest with me constantly moaning about crappy service? Will Mandy think every date spot is the greatest thing since sliced bread as it’s all so foreign to her? Will I maintain my hatred for chainy’s? Do English people even want to read about the dating habits of a yank and a JAFA (Just another fu$king Australian)? Do English people even date???
We don’t know, but we’re pumped up to find out.
Stay tuned to Date Night Dorset style!

Cheers,
Brett

Welcome!

Hello all!

Brett and i decided to start this blog after there was quite a bit of hoopla regarding our facebook postings on our weekly date nights... we decided to make a more established platform on which to document our sometimes wonderful and sometimes discraceful (but always memorable!) date nights in this fair city we live.

Both he and i will be contributing to it, in sort of a 'he said/she said' fashion...

I am regretting that we didn't start this earlier, as we've already had so many fun moments at so many great (and a couple really BAD) restauratnts!

Now, we aren't foodies by any means, which will make our restaurant reviews a bit different than anything you'll read on gourmet food sites. We know what we like, and we know what we don't.

For instance:

He said: If i sit down and there are cloth napkins and a mini fresh pepper grinder at the table, this is my new favorite restaurant.

She said: If i order a pasta and it shows up on my plate with more oil than i've seen on the shelves down at the jiffy lube, then guess what? that's gross.

We're strange and we're opinionated, but we're also easy going, and we are willing (and excited!) to try everything. We'll tell you if we like the place. We'll tell you what we did before hand and after (golfing? shooting range? paint party?), hopefully inspiring some date nights of your own! Really, it's mostly just a fun way for us to document this time in our lives, and if we can inspire a couple others along the way, well, GREAT!

I'll be compiling a list of places we've been to over the course of our courtship thus far -- i'll categorize them too: the good, the bad, and the eh... But you can always check out Yelp.com too, as i've rated almost all the spots we've been to.

Great things to come, i promise! Talk soon friends!
