Redhook Brewery Tour
He Said: 1981 gave the world some remarkable things. Betty Davis Eyes won best record. Chariots of Fire won best picture. The shuttle first took flight and of course it was the year Mandy and I were born.
One of the most critical events to occur in 1981 though, in my books anyway, was the birth of Redhook Brewery!

[Original Redhook Sign from Fremont Brewery Location]
This week for Date Night, Mandy and I crossed the water to visit Woodinville’s nation-famous Redhook Brewery and take their behind the scenes tour.

[Tour times]
Nestled in the wine district of Woodinville, the tour starts, fondly enough, with an icy cold 5oz beer!

Set in a room above the brewery, the guide provides a detailed history of the company and an insightful look into the beer making process itself. Broken into four parts, we were given 5 five oz tastes of Redhook's entire range. A great, fun hour of education and beer AND for the low price of $1 per person. That’s right, 1 DOLLAR! AND you get to keep you glass at the end. You can’t buy the materials for that. Absolute result as my English mates are often quoted.

[Cheers!]
Afterwards we headed down to their in-house restaurant for an early tea. I had an 8oz steak and Mandy had an Asian salad. Both reasonably priced and tasting.

[Steak: $19.99; Salad: $9.99]
The setting though was fantastic. Sitting outside, surrounded by hops vines, it was really hard to beat.
Cheers,
Brett

She Said: Not much to add to Brett's great review except GO HERE, immediately!
And, as if the $1 tour, the affordable food, and the brewery atmosphere isn't enough, Redhook adds to their mix-o-tricks Moonlight Cinema! Yep, that's right. They offer outdoor movies every Thursday night throughout the summer. And they have a beer garden. And bar-b-q. Did i mention the beer garden?
So, basically, we're in love with this place.
Every Thursday night during the summer months (July-August), Redhook Brewery plays host to a dusk showing of famous cult classics, with this summer's line-up including must-see films like The Big Lebowski, JAWS (for all you Shark Week fans!), Top Gun, and of course, the Sex and the City Movie (gents, bring your ladies to this and they will love you forever!).
Click HERE for additional information, including hours, price (only $5!) and what you can (folding chairs) and canNOT (bbq's, outside alcohol, space ships) bring into the outdoor movie.

As another side-note, We also noticed a lot of bicyclists when dining at the Redhook restaurant, too. With the wineries and brewery being so close to the Burke Gilman trail, Brett and i decided that the next time we ventured this way, we wanted to do it on bike!
With over 40 wineries in Woodinville, what a FUN day that would make, biking to each tasting (with a helmet, of course! And maybe even knee- and elbow-pads!) and then retiring for the evening at one of Woodinville's amazing hotels. Sounds like a recipe for romance, if you ask me!

Here's a map of all thedrunken debauchery mature, responsible adult fun you can have in Woodinville, just 30 miles outside Seattle (click to enlarge).

RATINGS:
Redhook Brewery
14300 NE 145th St
Woodinville, WA 98072-6950

Romance: 3 -- not a lot of romance here, but the beer helps aleviate inhibitions--several of the other couples on our tour were fondling each other's back pockets more than what we'd see at, say, a tour of the Boeing Plant...
Cool Ambiance/Interior: 5 -- I"m sorry, it's a BREWERY! That in itself is just AWESOME.
All Around Service: 4 -- The tour guide, Spencer Czapiewski, was GREAT. Young, sharp, and witty -- but mostly, PASSIONATE about what he was teaching us. His love of the product shone through.

[Spencer Hard at Work!] Cost: $$ = entrees from $8 - 13, tour was only $1 each! A STEAL!
Would we recommend it? 5: Yes! And can we come with you?

Love this place! We're already planning on seeing National Lampoon there in a couple weeks. :)
